Early January 2008In order to see David for a bit and hoping for the arrival of a little one, David and Suzanne flew out to visit us. We had a great visit with them, but no new baby...
The doctors kept telling me the baby could come any day - even though I was still a few days away from the due date. Since there was no one new in the family by the time David and Suzanne arrived, I felt sure they'd be here when I had the baby and the little one would get to meet both sets of grandparents at once.
No such luck.
They were here for a long weekend and we mostly did a lot of hanging around the house and visiting. Also,
they did a lot of dog walking on the
Prairie Path and around the neighborhood. Since I spent the last month or so of my pregnancy limping around (as Mom said) like I had one leg shorter than the other because of a combination of a muscle pull and sciatic nerve pain, the poor pups were having to depend upon playtime in their wonderful, but small, backyard and the occasional visit to Matt's house for exercise. The dogs were already happy to have Dad home to play with them, but I think they were beside themselves to have their top walkers in town for a visit. What joy! Walks in the snow, walks in the rain, walks in the mud and they even got to show off how well they play with their cousins when we went over to visit Carter and Radar one morning.

While David and Suzanne were here, we had one of David's good friends and his family out for dinner. Farr and Kimberly have three of the sweetest, most well-behaved kids and it was such fun to have them out. Mom made us all a great meal, Dad helped entertain the little ones and the rest of us tried to catch up with one
another's lives all the while wondering if Farr was going to have to jump in the car and rush Kimberly to the hospital since she thought she was having labor pains -- even though I was due about two weeks before her! What a pro - she was totally calm about the whole thing and we made it through the evening with no trips to the hospital.

All in all, it was a great visit for us and we hope David and Suzanne enjoyed themselves. We were only sorry to find out our little one takes after his dad and was determined to be late arriving!
